MEET YOUR BARBERS

Founder

ANGELO ALVEAR

"As a young boy growing up in Sulphur, Louisiana, I always loved it when my dad would take us to the local barbershop. I loved the smells in the air, the buzzing of clippers, and the gentle conversation that would crescendo into laughter as the men in the community came together. After we moved to Covington in 2011, barbers around the world began to video their services, and I would spend hours watching them. I was drawn to the idea of what a barber can mean to their client. We consult with them on their personal image for significant life events. You get to know what hopes, dreams, hobbies, and sometimes personal battles they are going through.

After completing barber school in 2019, I quickly found that I love working with my hands and sculpting hair or beards and using the straight razor. However, what truly drives me is the connection I build with each client. I purchased Southern Gentlemen Barbershop in March of 2020, worked 3 days, and then closed for 9 weeks.

Since that moment, it has been a rollercoaster of scary moments and fun times. My clients became my biggest cheerleaders and supporters. Without them, I could not have made it through the five years at our previous location or relocated to our new, beautiful location. I am extremely proud of the team that has developed here at Southern Gentlemen, and we hope to fulfil the mission of giving men a place to relax, shoot the breeze, and leave looking and feeling their best."

Barber

GEO SILVESTRE

“I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and came up to Georgia in 2019 to wrestle in college. Wrestling has always been a huge part of my life and played a big role in shaping who I am today. I came to know Jesus in 2017 through a friend who joined the wrestling team, and that relationship completely changed the direction of my life.

During college, I discovered my passion for cutting hair while serving with a homeless outreach ministry. I started giving free haircuts to those in need, and I quickly realized how powerful a simple haircut can be, it builds confidence, opens doors for conversation, and creates genuine connection.

I specialize in clean fades, precision cuts, and working with all hair types and textures. What I love most about barbering is building relationships and creating an environment where people feel comfortable and cared for. My goal is to use barbering as a platform to share Jesus and impact lives one haircut at a time.”

MASON WESTBROOK

“I was born and raised in Covington, Georgia, and I’ve been part of the Southern Gentlemen team for four years now. I started cutting hair because I liked working with my hands and helping people walk out feeling their best — but what keeps me going is the community that’s built in the chair.

Outside the shop, I’m usually either at the gym before sunrise, catching a football or basketball game, or on the golf course trying to convince myself I’m improving. When I’m not doing any of that, you’ll probably find me at Tin Plate (again) with a Coke Zero in hand, pretending I don’t have an addiction. I’m also working toward my degree through Liberty University Online, where I somehow manage to balance assignments between fades and fairways.”

Barber

PEPE ALEJANDRO

“I grew up in Athens and discovered barbering back in high school. What started as watching Instagram videos quickly turned into a true passion once I realized a haircut isn’t just about the cut — it’s about the experience behind it. I love being a barber because the people who sit in my chair become more than just clients; they’re part of the community I get to connect with every day.

My focus in the shop is creating modern haircuts with a touch of old-school style and service. I take pride in learning new techniques quickly and always pushing myself to improve. My goal is to blend precision with creativity, making sure every client walks out confident — and getting compliments wherever they go.

Outside the shop, I enjoy spending time with friends, going to concerts or sporting events, and lately, playing golf. When you sit in my chair, you can expect one of the best cuts you’ve ever had and an experience that keeps you looking forward to coming back.”
